Olympic Gold Medal Winner

On 6th September, 2008, Zac came to Upton to raise the London Olympics 2012 flag. The flag is a replacement for the one stolen during Water Festival. Zac was welcomed by Mayor Tim Perry at the White Lion Hotel. Zac's Father, Grandmother & girlfriend joined the organisers and members of Upton Rowing Club. Although planned for the ceremony to take place on the disabled area, the Police & Environment Agency said it couldn't because the barriers would be going up. The ceremony took place at The Swan, but then another one took place on the disabled area - sense prevailed! A large crowd were waiting for Zac at the disabled area and he raised the flag again. Many thanks to Zac and his family for coming to Upton.
