Upton Jazz Festival
We usually hold a draw for a picnic hamper at Jazz Festival, but this year decided to enter a float into the parade. We knew the Jazz Committee were keen to involve the community and they welcomed us entering.
The day before the parade we met at Rowan Thomas's house as he was kindly loaning us his tractor and trailer. Brian brought two troughs full of plants, and two of our Banana plants. Annebelle's flowerpot man and Jackie's hanging basket sat on a table and Maddy's conifers filled in the middle of the trailer. We had three banners made by Graham Signs in Malvern.
On the day of the parade, we came armed with buckets covered with flowers, by Angela and Shirley. We finished putting the banners on the trailer and our driver, Trevor Jeynes was ready to set off. We had to wait a while as we were rather early, but soon took up our position in the parade.
We all had a really good time and felt the effort was well worth while as many hundreds of people saw us and the float, and generous people put money in our buckets.
Thank you to everyone who took part, and Rowan Thomas, T&Co Electrical Ltd for kindly loaning us his tractor and trailer
