March 28th 2014

On behalf of Malvern Hills District Council we project managed the installation of a Sedum roof on top of the Heritage Centre. Previously covered with grass that wasn't included in the grass-cutting regime in the Old Churchyard, we suggested the roof would benefit from a living Sedum roof. This was agreed and we organised the removal of the turf by Colin Smith, and sourced the Sedum mats. Delivery was made to Panes Regal Garage and on 28th March Mick Panes kindly craned the mats and substrate to the top of the Heritage Centre.

While Jackie directed traffic around the crane in Church Street, Brian, Adam, Tony & Dave unloaded the two pallets, spread the substrate and laid the Sedum mats. We think the Sedum is a big improvement on the grass, and once it is established it will look really good. When it flowers, it should prove a great attraction for insects!
