Upton in Bloom

Planting displays

31st July 2014, we planted our floral displays. Based on variations of red, white and blue the displays are to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the start of World War 1. Banana plants, saved from last year's displays, feature in boats (as masts) and in the barrels on the Old Churchyard ('at attention'). In addition, the boats and riverside barrels feature red leaved Cannas, again saved from last year. Brian Williams had all the plants in place ready for the volunteers to plant the displays. Starting at 9.30am, the job was finished by 11am. Thank you to everyone who helped, and Bill & Peggy at Bridge House for the very welcome refreshments when we finished.
