June 19-20th 2014

Early in the year Upton in Bloom commissioned art students at Hanley Castle High School to paint a new mural under the bridge at East Waterside. The previous mural, painted in July 2009, was looking tired after five years and numerous floods. The only suggestion made was that perhaps the design could incorporate the anniversary of the start of World War 1. The right hand side of the mural lists the names of all the casualties from Upton upon Severn during the war.

Many thanks to Mr Leaver and his students, and to Hanley Castle High School. They have done a splendid job which is an asset to the town.
